Woah. 1000+ by July? That's a bit ambitious.

I can't be sure how much you've been keeping up with Guild Wars, but there will be a maximum number of members allowed in a guild, and most expect it to be below 100.

Good luck, though!

They expect to have more members than I have seen in a GW guild, but you need to go to a middleman just to look at what you are joining. This will sway people from looking at your guild.

C'mon now 1000 members? That's completely impossible! Like Jyrenth said, the max is gona be below 100. And anyway, it'S almost impossible to find 1000 persons ready to join you by this time. I mean, right now most guild don't even have 20 members! But hey, good luck anyway.

Why make such a big guild, can't see why people think thats cool. You don't know 90% of the members in the guild.. If its that large

Why completely bash some random guy with a guild? He probably didn't know there was going to be a guild cap. Now he does. Anyway he said he hoped to have that many by JULY 2005- Guild Wars will have been out for a while by then. I'm betting it'll be a lot easier to recruit with the full game out :P.

It's certainly possible to have a guild that size. As long as you realize that there's such a thing as an out-of-game guild. Many of the larger guilds around have members in several different games such as EQ or COH or UT and so on. It's a shared network of individuals that exists outside the restrictions and boundaries of any one video game. And even if it's a strictly GW guild the guild cap can be gotten around simply by starting up different "chapters" or sub-guilds. If you like PvE, maybe you join up with CBAO-Adventurers and if you like PvP, maybe you join up with CBAO-Arena, each with their own separate tabbard and guild hall but all belonging to the overarching CBAO which has a website and a forum they can all go to in order to coordinate.

Now, whether that's a good thing, whether or not smaller guilds could get pushed out by uber-guilds like that, and whether or not ANet will tolerate such things remains to be seen. But, as Flamin said, if 245 wants to try, it's 245's choice. Please try to remember the guidelines (http://www.guild-hall.net/forum/announcement.php?f=21) for this particular board, in specific :

If you are going to criticise a guild or its website, keep it constructive. We are not opposed to helpful suggestions, we are opposed to derogatory flames.

Exactly, also some people will not join just because of that. And it would be alot harder to communicate and set up game plans or whatever in pvp. My guild has only 7 people (including me) and I'm happy with that but I only want a max of 20-25, (which I'm not expecting). (That's just my own opinion, other people may think different).

In my opinion, it seems a lot of people are very ready to join big groups of people. They see the opportunity for advancement within the social structure, a significant number of new people to meet as well as the chance to simply be accepted. These guilds will take anyone, and they are truly wonderful for new players who might not be able to get into a smaller, more exclusive group of people.

In Planetside, the only MMO I've spent a long time in, there are a few groups on each server that have more than one thousand members, and they do quite well for themselves. It should go without saying that many of the smaller outfits completely despise the 'zerg' outfits, but they are, in my opinion, a healthy part of the community, offering a place where new players can get acquainted with how the game works.

We don't know what the cap is going to be yet so recruit all you want :). And as Saus said if you have too many you can a sub guild (or two :P) to fit in more.

Psycho Ghost

AOE is a gathering of neutral and evil guilds. But every member of the guilds that are parts of AOE are members of AOE, so they probably will get a LOT of members even though they are not really a guild.

I would love to see someone keep a guild with 1000 people organised and under control. And where is the link to the website??

Wow. its a little disturbing, but I'm more surprised people know that AoE exists than 245 wanting 1000 members for his guild  . Not like its top secret or anything, just hasn't been mentioned publicly on any forum I can find. But getting back to the topic. . . I was part of a zerg guild once, its a good experience when you just start out, but gets frustrating later on because you are dealing with decisions that other people make for you, people you don't know. They are a good thing to start out with though. Good luck 245, and god speed brave little toaster!
