Athens pulled off the event better than I expected it to, to be honest.

However, I still think it was ridiculous to give the Olympics to a country that obviously wasn't the best choice just because of some "We founded the Olympics" jargon.

I thought Athens did a great job given the amount of pressure put on them to finish in time and security issues and the like. But i do feel bad for athleteslike Phelps who had the media swarming around them and creating huge stories like the 8 golds or whatever. I remember when phelps got a bronze in somthing and newspaper headlines were "Phelps Fails" or to that nature. Gimme a break.

American media effectively cut off any contact with the games in america that wasnt through them so I chose not to watch them. On the other hand I think that they were fairly well executed.

The IOC gave the olympics to Greece out of respect, and Greece showed the IOC its appreciation through the very successful games. I think its funny how lots of American media were downgrading the upcoming olympics before they even started, and now they are begging for appologies. I went to Greece, and was baffled by the remarkable organization. Jacques Rogge was right to have called them Dream Games.
