The lands have seen its share of warriors both brave and cowardly, saintly and wicked, merciful and barbaric. These warriors have fought for their individual purposes; many have died while a few have become legends among us. One idea that all great warriors have shared is this: Greatness is not accomplished by the acts of one individual alone, but only through the aid of your guild is this possible.

Guilds are the backbone of any warrior in this world. Because of this, our warriors are dedicated to not only the survival, but the prosperity of the guild. Each member plays a critical part in furthering the guild down the path laid before us. It is important that the guild be a recognized and respected organization throughout the lands, and each member should always be aware that he or she represents the guild wherever he travels. The actions taken by our members must always reflect the goals of the organization as a whole.

Baptized By Fire is a multi-game battleclan, and I am pleased to announce that we are currently expanding to GuildWars. We are a large group of mature, non-cheating gamers who strictly enforce honorable gameplay within our membership. This information below is divided into various sections, in no particular order:


Alignment:
While we are an evil-aligned guild, we would also be considered lawful since we accept the boundaries our society has set. The competition between guilds is one of the main motivating forces behind each of our members, and we get a great amount of enjoyment in defeating all who would stand in our way. We have no problem in killing others if it serves the goals of our guild, but unnecessary killing of innocent people is not accepted. Our guild may be many things to others, but above all it will be respected. There are strict punishments, including banishment from the guild, for misrepresentation by our members.

Ranking:
We are all looking for a fun group of people to play this game with, and creating too many levels of hierarchy for our group can lead to us having less fun as a whole. In my opinion, it will add an unneeded level of competition among our members to have everyone competing for various positions within our guild. At the same time, organization is needed within any group. Little is known about the in-game ranking system at this time, but I hope this structure will be the central ranking sytem for our group. More information will be posted soon.

There is also another clan-wide ranking system that everyone can choose to focus on. This ranking system affects a person no matter what game he/she is active in. If a member never leaves the one game they join the clan for, then the clan's ranking system wouldn't ever have much of an affect on that person. The main importance for the clan ranking system comes into play when people want to the top positions within their game (where their clan ranking is used to see how long and how active the person has been within the clan). There are a variety of medals available to people who show special ability or character while playing their chosen game, and each GC is capable of recommending a clan member for them.

We have two TS servers. The above address is for our public server that can be used to speak with people outside of our guild, and our other server is a clan-only private server. You can learn alot about a person by using this means of communication, so it is highly recommended that new members meet with me on this server at some point before being accepted into our guild. It also may be helpful to group with me or another of our members in any other online game just to get an idea of how we will work in a group setting.

There are always a handful of people here from the clan, so it is usually a good way to chat with our guild's members, as well as members from other games. You should also be able to find BBF members in the TGH channel at various times throughout the day.

Any of these or other ways that we can get to know you will improve your chances of becoming a member.

I have a question. Lets say I join BBF's Guild Wars division. Would veteran members in other divisions still have seniority over me? I ask this because I'm worried if when the beta starts or the game is released a bunch of BBF vets will want to join causing BBF noobs like me to get pushed aside. Would this happen?


Since we have multiple games within our clan, we do have people who play in many different games as a member of BBF. At the same time we have a clan ranking system that follows those members around from game to game, but that ranking system has very little to do with the individual games. The main importance for the clan ranking system comes into play when people want to become fleet commanders or game commanders in their game, where their clan ranking is used to see how long and how active the person has been within the clan.

Each game (including GuildWars) will have its own unique ranking system that could be as basic or complex as the game's commander decides. If you were to stay in only one game as a BBF member, then the clan ranking would have very little affect on you. Every person, except the game commander and fleet commander, in the GuildWars division will start at the same rank regardless of the separate clan ranking system. Once the game comes out, we will use such things as skill and amount of activity in our game to decide on who will be moved up to future higher ranks. At this time we don't have a GuildWars ranking system in place, so I can't say what positions will be available to move up to.

Your ranking inside our guild will depend mainly on two things: the amount of time you put in to playing the game and possibly your skill level. Right now I'm the game commander for Call of Duty, and I've made it to this position without ever playing another game in the BBF clan. I'm just the type of gamer that sticks with one game at a time and spends alot of time with that chosen game, and GuildWars will be my next game. Any person joining our guild has the chance to become every rank in their game, including the game commander. It would have to be after the initial game commander leaves (or in the unlikely event that he gets kicked out by those who have a high clan rank).

Right now we have two people working together on the site in their spare time, and they've done some great work. I don't know exactly how long it will take until the site is up, but they seem to think that it will be done very soon. Just to show you an idea of what they are working on, here's the initial background they created:

This is a small low-quality version of the background that was first created for the site, but it's close to what they are working with at this point. If it is possible (with the way GuildWars will share its guild/individual ranking information outside of the game), we will have all our rank info there, information on our members, links to other sites for GuildWars and our clan, and any other info on our guild. Someone will post here once the site is complete.

We have put up another version of our site, and it looks great in Firefox, but there's still one problem with DIV alignment when viewing from IE. I have the corrected version, but the FTP site is down! One thing after another... but I'm sure the site will be looking as intended in all browsers by the end of the day.

EDIT: The site looks as intended in your favorite browser (although it should be Firefox if it isn't already :D). We now have our roster section up as well, which give a list of our current active members and their chosen professions, as well as the descriptions of those who have one at this point.

Casting a rez on this thread I would like to announce that Baptized By Fire is currently looking for PvP players. We've been in the top 100 on the ladder for most of the BWEs, and we're now looking for players with which we can take BBF to the next level of competitive play.

All potential members need to be mature and able to think on their feet. We have members in all US time zones as well as in Europe, so we always have members on. It is also important to note that as a multi-game clan it is again clan policy to multi-clan in a game BBF is activly competive in.
