G'day everyone

The House of Valor is a guild set up by our guild leaders, Lady Miranda Black and Snide Teh Win. We are planning to be a smaller guild, and are looking for experienced, mature (not necessarily meaning old), and dedicated gamers. We currently have 39 members

Guild Structure
- 4 teams with 12 members each
- Two North American teams
- One Euro team
- One Australian/Asian Team

We are still recruiting, though places are filling fast! If you are interested please visit our website (see below).

About the House

The House of Valor is a guild of friends committed to the old code(see below). We hold the strength of our family above all else. Our goal is to preserve this aspect of our guild while also advancing ourselves in the realm of Ascalon. In other words, we strive to maintain an environment for players to grow both in commitment to the ideals above, as well as to grow in strength and reputation within the realm of Ascalon. We strive to bring the creed to those who do not know it, and to let our actions and words speak for us. In everything that we do, we strive to maintain the honor and reputation of ourselves and of the house.

The Old Code

A knight is sworn to valor
His heart knows only virtue
His blade defends the helpless
His might upholds the weak
His word speaks only truth
His wrath undoes the wicked

The old code is the founding basis of the House of Valor, and every member is responsible to know the code, and to uphold its creed in their actions towards all people they meet in game. The code is what binds us together as a family and makes us strong enough to face enemies in the lands of Ascalon, be they foul beasts or enemies among guilds with no honor. Through careful application of these values in all that we do, every member shall represent the House of Valor with honor and integrity and the house shall become known and respected throughout the land.

Each line of the code represents a different virtue or ideal that we seek among our membership. If you do not feel like you can live up to this code and its ideals, then it is recommended that you seek membership within a different guild. If, after careful consideration of the following guidelines, you find that you are of like mind, we would welcome you warmly into the House. Please visit our forums for more information on how to join.

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to offer an update and a new writeup for our guild hehe. We currently have a very few N. American team spots available, and several of our European and Asian/Australian spots are still open. If you are looking for a guild like ours, please be sure to stop by and check us out. You can click on my signature graphic to be taken to our website.

So, without further adieu... an introduction.

House of Valor

The House of Valor was initially founded by Lady Miranda Black in 1999 in the game Asheron's Call, along with several members who have fallen away along the years, Balrog, Vinhald, Phenith, and Uncas. At that time, we were known as House Valiant, and that name changed after we left AC. In 2001 we split into two parts, one going to the game DAoC and another to EverQuest. The DAoC guild drifted away and those of us who did the EQ thing called it quits earlier this year after beating the Plane of Time and being disappointed with SOE's latest expansion to that game. For all intents and purposes, The House of Valor was dead, and there was no intention to ever bring it back again. Guild Wars changed all that.

The House of Valor Guild Wars was created in the wake of Arena.net's exciting E3 for Everyone event. By May 16, 2004 the first website was up and running. Founded by Lady Miranda Black and Snide Teh Win, the philosophy of Gaming Fun through Gaming Excellence quickly drew a following among the now disenfranchised but still excited participants of the May free for all.

Miranda and Snide crafted a thorough application process that displayed their no nonsense attitudes while simultaneously supporting and promoting the guild standards and Charter. The initial bulge in applications was dealt with smoothly and judiciously. It may have surprised some to see applicants turned away from a still growing membership. Those whose applications were not accepted were given a timely note and recommendations for guilds that might more suit their play style. The administration of the forums and the site have never faltered through this long summer.

House of Valor teams are formed around the 8 v 8 guild warfare standard and are staffed by time zone commonality. This allowed subordinate leaders to quickly meet and greet new initiates and the Lord and Lady of Valor to delegate responsibility to the team leaders. Leadership changes occurred during the vacation months as new members made it possible to re-align all the teams more closely with their geographic centers. These leadership changes were acted upon fairly and expeditiously in every case.

From the start House of Valor expected consistant participation in guild activities including the guild forums. This level of participation has resulted in a thriving Guild Wars community that is following the evolution of the game. As changes in game mechanics and skill permutations happened, our boards buzzed with discussion concerning the impact the changes would have on team builds and strategy. Sadly, several initial members fell away during these weeks, but they were quickly replaced from the waiting list established from the onset by guild leadership. This foresight and organization is a hallmark of the House of Valor.

As news of the guild additions to Alpha came to us, we were not caught unaware. Our preparations for the presale and next world wide event are all in place. Our teams are primed to begin, even if the event were to get off to an early start, a la E3 for Everyone, or even if it were to start today. We're not waiting 'til late October, we're ready now...and we're ready for guild additions because we're communicating with each other daily and are prepared to seize the opportunity.

With the new Alpha Invites happening and the upcoming world event, we are expecting quite a bit of interest to flood into the community, so we'd like to take the opportunity now to re-open our recruiting.

Best Regards,
Lady Miranda Black
