These look much better than the armour in GW 1. They actually look like something people would wear.

No, I don't like the female elite druid armour. Even though I bought it. Twice.

The clothing in pic 3 is amazing! Will I actually want to make a male character now? Maybe not, but if the outfits are like that then I will have a hard time deciding the gender of my characters :O

Oh, I imagine if the stuff looks that good it will be just as easy a decision this time.
I always end up with the same formula: One dude, many chicks. Works out really well.

In any event I hope the Charr get an option for A really snazzy Uniform (http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2566/4086499985_017f54dccd.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.flickr.com/photos/mjoven/4086499985/&usg=__0hfmQw5rxNJDrilfodkkPIU3 CLE=&h=375&w=500&sz=117&hl=en&start=8&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=F_bMmPsU_0zeNM:&tbnh=98&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbritish%2Brevolut ionary%2Bwar%2Buniforms%26um%3 D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefo x-a%26sa%3DX%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla :en-US:official%26tbs%3Disch:1)

That Firefly/Old West style male clothing is actually like an outfit I wore to a ball a few weeks ago... damn, it looks good (and so did I :P)

I love these, I'm hoping some of those Male pieces have Female versions that closely resemble them. I'm all for gender differences between clothing, it would just be nice to have . . . something more middle ground, in addition to anything else. I really like that Jacket. I'm with everyone and anyone that's liked Picture 3 so far.

Twice.

Great, I thought I was over my Buffy the Vampire Slayer flashbacks.

I won't. I'll just do what I always do, whatever I like the look of. It's just so few Armors in the game, for female characters anyways, had the modesty and style of the Necromancer's Fanatic and those few others that followed suit. Honestly, I always though the Fantatic armor was better looking than the Elite Cultists armor based on the same model.

I'd have put the female (again Necromancer) Monument armor in that category as well if it weren't for the Elementalist levels of Cleavage. :\

Two Joss Whedon material flashbacks in one day. Thanks! Now I have to dwell on how there will never be a season two of Firefly too.

I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

Something that hit me about the images and the article - they only say armour once. All the rest of the time the specifically say clothes. And they all look about as protective as elite druid or elite sunspear female armour. They could be town clothes - I remember Arenanet were interested in the idea. They could also just be NPC clothes.

so if NPC's are getting this much love...imagine the real characters?

They mentioned merchants and the art work at the top is of a town/forum, so I really think these are NPC clothes. Which is amazing when you think about it! :P. Like Max said, imagine what player armor is going to be like...

I would really like to see some town clothes or alternate costumes or something like that. Also, I find it interesting (although not surprising) that the clothes in those images are such higher quality (and higher detail) than the actual models. It makes perfect sense that the clothing designer only cares about that (and doesn't need the newest models), but I wonder if anyone will think that those are what GW2s character models look like.

I thought the models looked great haha!

Actually, looking at the screenshots again, it was just a few things that threw me off - the plastic looking texture on the skin in the second one, the block foot...I don't know, they're pretty good, but for a brand new 2011 game, they look a little dated. Maybe I've been so removed from MMOs from so long that I forget that they have to scale everything and the visuals can't possibly be on par with a single player console game.

The outfits, though, are phenomenal, which is the point of the article.

It definitely looks like id software early 2000's style bump mapping, where it makes some textures look like wax.

I agree with that (waxy/plastic looking) about these clothing shots, specifically, that aren't in the world. However, we've seen shots that are in the world, and I don't recall thinking that of them.

Oh definitely. Viewing them like that is like seeing them in a map with fullbright on. They'll look a lot different in game and being affected by an actual lighting engine.
