Although the administrators and moderators of The Guild Hall Forums will attempt to keep all objectionable
messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of
the author, and neither the owners of The Guild Hall Forums, nor Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (developers of vBulletin)
will be held responsible for the content of any message.
By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar,
sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.
Some forums may have further rules not detailed below. These rules will be available in the Announcement thread found in that forum. By posting in that forum you warrant that you have read and accept those additional rules.
The owners of The Guild Hall Forums reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason. The rules below may be changed at any time at the discretion of our staff. You may review these rules in future (and any changes or additions) here (our Forum Guidelines forum).
POSTING RULES
Respect Other Forum Members
Refrain from flaming or baiting. If you disagree with someone present your opinion and reasons; simply belittling someone who has an opposing point of view is not welcome here. This also applies to PM's. We will not tolerate abuse or harrassment of any members in any way for any reason.
Respect the Owner of Intellectual Property
If you quote a source, give full credit to that source. If the source is online, provide a link. Always give credit by: 1. Naming the source; 2. Naming the author (if known); 3. Naming the publisher or site. Feel free to quote material, just make sure you give credit and refrain from copying an entire article. The latter is best served by a link.
Warez, Hacking or Other Illegal Material
Absolutely no links to warez sites or hacking sites. We'd rather you didn't even discuss warez/hacks on the forums at all. Not only do we not approve of piracy or hacks designed to gain an unfair advantage, but as part of our inclusion in the Guild Wars Community Fansite Program we are required to take a hard-line stance on this issue.
Remain On-Topic
While we feel that spam is impossible to eliminate, please try to remain on topic when you post. "On-topic spam" will be allowed to a degree. We will post requests to return to the original topic if spam threatens to overrun a thread. Any post that simply says "I agree" (or words to that effect) may be deleted. If you want to state your agreement with someone's idea, that's fine, but explain how and/or why you agree with it.
No Excessive Profanity
The occasional 'damn' or 'damnit' or 'hell' is OK, but if you go out of your way to get around our word censors, you will be be warned. Repeat offenders will be suspended or banned.
Do Not Repost Deleted Material
Deleted posts and threads remain with a deletion notice in place. If something was deleted because of abuse, you can post the same thing without the abuse. These rules also apply to locked material, though you may use your discretion in this case. Simply repeating something that was deleted or locked is not acceptable.
Advertising
Ask us before posting. In many cases you may find that we will post a link on the main site news that will serve your purposes far better than a link in the forums. Any advertising posted without our permission may be deleted without notice.
Use Common Sense
If you don't think something will be acceptable, do not post it. Just because it's not listed here doesn't make it okay.
Disputing Moderator Decisions
We are not ogres. You are allowed to question any decisions made by our Moderators by using the following process:
1. Send a PM to the Moderator who made the decision detailing the reasons why you disagree. That Moderator will either confirm their decision and explain to you the reasons why, or reverse their decision based on your appeal. If the decision is reversed, no further correspondence is required. If the decision is confirmed and you still do not agree, go to step 2.
2. If you still have concerns, send a PM to Sausaletus Rex (our senior Moderator) explaining your concerns. Send him a copy of all relevant correspondence from step 1. If you still have concerns, got to step 3.
3. If you have concerns with the response you receive from Sausaletus Rex, send a PM to GhostRaptor or MeatMan. Send copies of all correspondence received at steps 2. and 3. We will then either confirm the decision of the Moderator team or reverse it. If we confirm the decision the issue is closed and you will be expected to abide by the decision.
Attempting to dispute Moderator decisions on the public forums will result in the threads/posts being deleted and your account may be suspended or banned. In some circumstances we may allow discussion to take place on the public forums, however these opportunities will be opened by the Moderator team and not by you.
IMAGE USE GUIDELINES

Do not use images of a pornographic or degrading nature as avatars, signature images, or in posts.
Signature Images
We allow the use of images within your signature block. These images must abide by the above rule, and must not exceed the following dimensions: 550 pixels width and 150 pixels height. The 150 pixel height limit is reduced by 10 pixels for every line of text also included in your signature block. Blank lines count as a line of text.
Images Embedded in Posts
When posting images from other sites, please do NOT embed them in your post. Use a link to the site that hosts the image. Do not embed images with a width greater than 550 pixels. Limit the number of images per post; if one or two images will suffice, do not post ten.
