Excel Unlock Check List

This is a skill unlock checklist using Excel. Excel or a program that can run the extention .xls is required. This file is saved as a .zip file so you will have to unzip it to open it. This list has many things that other lists lacked in terms of facts it displays, number crunching etc. To prevent accidental deletion of material in here, I locked all cells that dont have input in it, to unlock it, you have to manually unlock the sheet. To mark an item unlocked, you will need to put an 'x' in the appropriate fields.

If you do not have a spreadsheet application, you can download open office, for free here.

Things this lists has:
-Skill unlocks
-Rune unlocks
-Item unlocks
-Ability to checkmark unlocked classes by attribute and/or campaigns, reducing repetitiveness of marking off skills.
-Color coded conditional formating for easy viewing
-Calculated average time to unlock remaining skill points and skills
-Calculated (faction/experience and maximum gold) required to unlock the remaining (skills, runes, and upgrades)
-The letter 'Q' by every skill which is obtainable through a quest
-Source code included which permits viewing of formulas
-Front tab to give some basic information on the sheet
-Contributors List

Anything you want to be added or fixed, reply to this thread instead of private mesaging me so other people can see that it has been suggested, thanks. Please note also I will update this without notice to make minor tweaks and updates to it.

A Google Group is dedicated for this discussion here if you wish to discuss it more in depth.

Enjoy.

Re: Excel Unlock Check List

This is pretty cool, the opnly think i would add would possible hyper link to descriptions of the power, or even just type it out next to them, and have the classes in a column one right after the other. Maybe a description of where to get each skill as well...

But these suggestions are just lofty wishes, i know it would take forever, and not be at all necesary as i could just look it up.

How do you actually check off the skills and get the calculations to work?

I just added it to the original post. You make an 'x' in any field it applies to.

Re: Excel Unlock Check List

New update for Guild Wars: Factions.

Things new in this checklist:
-Added skills and runes for the Assassin and Ritualist class
-Changed the color shading of the Ranger class
-Rearanged classes alphabetically
-Rearanged the whole weapon components section

Please let me know if you find any errors or bugs in this. I still dont know exactly how many upgrade unlocks there are. If someone knows exactly how many unlocks there are per type of unlock in the weapon components section, please private message me.

Re: Excel Unlock Check List

There's a couple little things I found wrong with this checklist.

1) The monk skill Life Barrier is an elite, but it's not marked as an elite here (and thus only counts as 1000 faction in the total instead of 3000).

2) On the upgrade components sheet, the staff upgrades are not being added in to the total. [EDIT] Ah, I see the problem - you forgot to expand the range of summation fields when you added the Dagger column for Factions.

Otherwise, great job!

Sounds like this spreadsheet has some features GWFreaks is still missing, plus it's easier to use. Might give it a try!

Re: Excel Unlock Check List

Something else I just realized - for the upgrade suffixes (axe hafts, sword hilts, etc.), they all have ranges, like a Staff Wrapping of Defense can give +1-5 armor. You have to unlock both the *min* and *max* version of them, and each one costs 1,000 faction. You don't have any way to account for this.

I said something about this earlier on the thread, I am aware of the issue. The only problem I have is I dont know the exact number of unlocks for each individual mod. I have everything unlocked, so there is no way for me to know how many are in what. If someone wants to PM me a list or something for each particular mod, please do, so I can change it.

I'm pretty sure there are two for every mod. One for the worst of it's kind, and one for the best. If you grab 2,000 faction, you can test it (unless you have UAX already).

Thanks for the list. I can track how many thousands of faction I need now.

Yeah I just checked it. There is an exception though: Zealous. The max is 1:1. I don't think there are any more of these.

Re: Excel Unlock Check List

good job. i suggest putting in a space for a fourth character b/c it's my impression that most ppl will create a new character a/ri or ri/a for the expansion.

The elemental mods only have one upgrade as well, and things like lengthen (condition).

EDIT: In fact...

1 to unlock:
Icy
Ebon
Shocking
Fiery
Zealous
Barbed
Crippling
Cruel
Poisonous
Heavy

2 to unlock:
Vampiric
Furious
Sundering
of (attribute)
of Defense
of Shelter
of Warding
of Enchanting
of Fortitude
Defensive
Insightful
Hale

Of course, unlike runes, if you unlock the max via PvE, you don't have to go back and unlock the min later.

This spread sheet is designed for someone using a PvP character on thier account. The formula I use for puting in characters is n-1, to make room for a PvP character. With 4 being the current max on characters per account, means you only have 3 slots, therefore only 3 characters. When and if they increase the character limit, I will increase the character amount.

Thanks to Dispari Scuro, I updated this spread sheet to version 5 with the modifiers fixed, hopefully. If I got them wrong, please say so. I changed the assassin modifiers to be blank untill I can find more reliable information about them, I will update it when I do find out.

Edit: Updated it to fix what dr_ishmael pointed out. I also included a known contributors list to the source sheet.

Re: Excel Unlock Check List

The new column labels there are a little misleading. They seem to imply that the first version of an upgrade costs 1000, and that the second version costs 2000, which is incorrect. A less confusing way to label them would've been "Min"/"Max".

[edit] Just noticed something else - there is no such thing as a Furious bowstring.

Simply saying it wont work is not enough. You need to specify exactly what is wrong with it, in order for me to trouble shoot. -SpaceFreak
